Step 1:Vinegar and water is all you need

Whether you buy apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, it’s entirely up to you. Still, we recommend you use apple cider vinegar because of its benefits, including the ability to balance your hair and scalp the PH, which results in smooth and shiny coats and decreased frizz.

Brassy hair has a very high PH, and vinegar is designed to balance the PH of your strands and result in a decrease in brassiness. The proportion of vinegar to water should be one to two, which means one cup of vinegar to two cups of water. The length of your hair will determine how much vinegar you will be using.

For short hair, use one cup of vinegar with two cups of water, and for long hair, you should double the mixture of two cups of vinegar and four cups of water. You can add the mixture into the bowl, or a large measuring cup is preferred as it is straightforward to cover and sock your hair with the vinegar mixture fully.

Step 2:Shampoo and Condition Your Hair

Shampoo and condition your hair, and for extra support for your blonde hair, it is recommended to use a shampoo and condition that is made especially for protecting your blonde hair.

You can also use purple shampoo, which is specially designed to protect your hair and get that orange/brassy undertones out of your hair but do not use the purple shampoo with the vinegar because vinegar is strong enough and will get the brassy color out of your hair.

We recommend you not to use hot hair on the hair as it damages your hair, leading to dandruff. leave your hair wet, and you can squeeze out the excess, but your hair needs to be very wet before you add the vinegar mixture

Step 3:Apply the vinegar mixture

Use the mixture you created in step 1, and then pour the mixture on your hair. Gently pour the mixture onto your hair and massage the mixture into your hair. The combination will not negatively affect your hair. It will only help you out, and if you have blonde highlights, the vinegar mixture can be easily applied all over your hair.

Let the vinegar settle for around 10 to 20 minutes, but we recommend that 10 minutes be sufficient for you to tone out the brassy hair.

Bonus tip

If you want the direct application of the mixture, you can also use a spray bottle.

Make the second batch of vinegar and water mixture like you did in the first step 1 and place that mixture in the spray bottle. You will still need to massage the mixture on your hair and allow a minimum of 10 minutes, and then you are ready to rinse.

Step 4: Rinse Your Hair and Drying Options

The last step is to rinse the vinegar mixture out of the hair with the help of cold water. Coldwater is highly recommended because it will close your hair cuticles. The best thing about closed hair cuticles is that they create a barrier that will protect your hair from fading, and also closed hair cuticles provide shin and smooth out your hair.

If you choose to blow out your hair, we recommend you to use heat protectant spray, or you can also use a product that will maintain the integrity of your hair and the dryness.
